Kelly, Livingston among R.I. athletes in NYC this weekend

A handful of local athletes will be in New York City this weekend for the New Balance Armory Collegiate Invitational.

Barrington junior Abby Livingston will face a stellar field in the junior girls’ 600-meter run. All six athletes entered in the race (Friday, 6:10 p.m.) are high on the national rankings. Columbia (N.J.) senior Olivia Baker is the top-seeded runner in the field. The Stanford-bound Baker ranks No. 2 in the country with a best of 1 minute, 33.5 seconds. Livingston owns the fourth fastest time prior to the race with her US #6 of 1:34.87.

In the girls’ 20-pound weight, five of the seven athletes are from the Ocean State. Narragansett senior Leia Mistowski (51 feet, 9.5 inches, US #9), Classical junior Alva Hicks (51-8.5, US #10 ) and Exeter/West Greenwich senior Tori Ebert (50-8.5, US #11) are the top three seeds in the field (Friday, 6:45 p.m.). Other Rhode Islanders are Classical senior Bianca Donadio (48-7.5) and Smithfield sophomore Megan Malloy (45-7.5).

One of the nation’s top throwers, Adam Kelly of Barrington, leads the boys’ field in the 25-pound weight (Saturday, 4:45 p.m.). The junior has a best of 77-0.5, currently No. 2 in the country. Also entered are Moses Brown junior Owen Russell (68-10.5, US #6), Classical senior Tom Vadis (67-11.75, US #7) and Woonsocket senior Connor Fugere (64-4.25, US #15).
