Mid-Prairie's Anna Hostetler Inks With University Of Iowa

Anna Hostetler, a senior from Mid-Prairie and one of the top distance runners in the state, signed with the University of Iowa on Monday.

This fall, Hostetler helped lead Mid-Prairie to its first state cross country title in Class 2A, where she finished second at the championships in a time of 18:06.00. She posted three times at 18:25.0 or faster and a year ago posted a PB of 17:42.02 at the 5K distance.

She posted all these times in 2017 despite a condition, Hashimoto Thyroditis, which led to points of fatigue throughout races. Most believe, however, that the condition will subside soon enough and allow Hostetler to run full strength in college.

On the track, Hostetler had her best season yet as a junior, winning three Class 2A titles in the 800m, 1500m and 3000m, setting season PBs of 2:14.75, 4:33.41 and 9:47.52 in all three events. She also won a coveted Drake Relays championship in the 3000m, going 9:51.08.
