SEC Outdoor Championships

Arkansas men, LSU women win titles

Sunday:
LSU's Kim Duncan put on a show in front of her home crowd as she won both short sprints and anchored the winning 4x100 relay. She won the 100 in 10.96 (No. 3 all-time) and the 200 in 22.12 (No. 3 all-conditions). She set a facility and meet record in the win.

The Florida Gators went 1-2-7-8 in the 1500 with senior Genevieve LaCaze winning in 4:13.44. Cory McGee was second in 4:15.46.

LSU senior Barrett Nugent became  the third person in league history to win three consecutive 110 hurdle titles. He won his third title in a row Sunday with a time of 13.40.

Saturday:

Women's Shot put
Tennessee senior Annie Alexander won her third career outdoor title with a throw of 56 feet, 3.75 inches. Alexander has combined for seven career conference titles in the shot and became just the fourth women in SEC history to win three or more career titles.

Women's Pole vault
George freshman Morgann LeLeux captured her first career  title defeating the two-time defending champion and collegiate-record holder, Tina Sutej. LeLeux won in a personal-best mark of 14-6.75. Sutej was second also with a leap of 14-6.75. LeLeux was victorious off attempts.

Women's Steeplechase
Florida senior Genevieve LaCaze won her third career title in 10:13.99.

Friday:

Men's Decathlon
Arkansas collected 27 points in the decathlon with Kevin Lazas (first, 7778), Terry Prentice (second, 7585), Gunnar Nixon (third, 7544), Auston Chen (sixth, 6709). Lazas' victory was the first by an Arkansas athlete in any conference meet.

Men's 10,000 meters
Arkansas amassed 22 points in the 10,000-meter run behind the event winner, Eric Fernandexz (29:34.54), and a second place from Solomon Haile (29:56.04). Lane Boyer also placed fifth for the Razorbacks in 30:19.06.

Women's Heptatlon
Florida sophomore Brittany Harrell claimed the title with a school-record performance of 5,838 points. She became just the third athlete in SEC history to surpass the 5,800-point mark at the conference championships.

 

Pac-12 Championships
May 12-13, Eugene, Ore.

Oregon Sweeps Titles

Sunday:
Arizona's Lawi Lalang won the 1500 with a time of 3:47.33, holding off Stanford's Chris Derrick (3:47.66) and Oregon's Trevor Dunbar (3:47.84) in the process. Derrick went on to win the 5000 meters in 13:37.55 with Arizona's Steven Sambu in second at 13:38.88. Lalang was third in 13:41.35.

Stanford’s Katerina Stefanidi won her third consecutive pole vault title, winning in 14-8.25. Stanford's Amaechi Morton won the 400 hurdles in a nation's best time of 48.95. Arizona's Georganne Moline won the women's race in 55.12, easily defending her title.

 

Saturday:

Men's Shot put
Arizona State junior Jordan Clarke claimed the title with a 65-2, to repeat as the Pac-12 champion in this event.

Men's Javelin
Oregon freshman Sam Crouser won his first career title with a 250-10. Crouser was victorious by 19 feet over the second-place performer, Washington's Joe Zimmerman (231-10).

Men's Steeplechase
Arizona senior Stephen Sambu won this event for the second consecutive year with a time of 29:20.19.

Women's 10,000 meters
Oregon senior Alex Kosinski led from start to finish to win in 34:19.67. She became the second Duck in three seasons to win the title.

Women's Hammer
USC senior Marissa Minderler successfully defended her title, winning in a personal-best 220-11. The Trojans scored 23 points in this event. Jenny Ozari placed second with a throw of 215'1 while fellow teammate  Jade Niemeyer was fifth with a 197'. Lauren Chambers added a point for USC with a seventh-place finish.

Men's Long jump
Texas junior Marquise Goodwin won his third-consecutive outdoor title in a personal best and national leader leap of 26-10.50. With the win, Goodwin, now owns five Big 12 titles in his career as Longhorn. Goodwin is the only men's athlete in conference history to sweep both the indoor and outdoor title in the same year twice.

Men's Shot put
Texas senior Jocob Thormaehlen posted a personal best and national-leader 66-07.75. Thormaehlen also earned the Olympic A standard in the win. The Longhorns amassed 23 points with Hayden Baillio (third, 63-0), Will Spence (fourth, 59-04.25) and Ryan Crouser (seventh, 58-04).

 

Friday:

Men's Javelin
Texas A&M junior Sam Humphreys broke the meet and facility record on the first toss of 253-11. On his second throw of 259-01, he set a new Aggie school record.

Women's Javelin
Oklahoma senior Brittany Borman defend her title in style Friday as she won with a facility record of 181-02. The mark also met the Olympic A standard.

Women's Hammer
Kansas senior Alena Krechyk closed out her Jayhawk career by winning her second Big 12 hammer title. Krechyk broke the meet, facility and school record with a 226-05.
