  • Pilots Continue Outdoor Season at the Stanford Invite

    Stanford, Calif. --- A small contingent from the Portland Pilots men’s and women’s track teams made their way down to Cobb Track on Friday and Saturday to compete at the Stanford Invitational. Redshirt freshman Trevor Dunbar finished first in his section of the 1500m, clocking a 3:46.52. Senior Cori Moore added an eighth place finish in the 1500m, completing the race in 4:31.62.

    With a shortened roster in action Saturday at the North Texas Classic, Oklahoma Track and Field athletes claimed titles in three events along with 13 top-three finishes. K.P. Singh (hammer throw), Shawna Anderson (100-meter dash) and Alexandra Acker (pole vault) all claimed event wins in an early-season tune-up for the Sooners.

  • Outdoor Season Kicks Off This Weekend

    Indiana kicks off the outdoor season with the Big Ten/SEC Challenge and the Stanford Invitational this weekend. The Big Ten vs. SEC Challenge pits four Big Ten schools against four SEC schools in a battle for conference superiority. The Hoosiers will be joined by Big Ten competitors from Illinois, Ohio State and Purdue. The SEC will be represented by host Mississippi State, Auburn, Georgia and Ole Miss. The meet will feature a 10-8-6-5-4-3-2-1 scoring system with each conference scoring a max of four athletes.

    The #1 ranked Grand Valley State women's track and field team scored 83 points to earn the programs first NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field National title on Saturday (March 12) in Albuquerque, N.M. GVSU claimed 32 points over second place Lincoln (Mo.), while Adams State (37) finished third. Grand Valley State was led by Monica Kinney as she placed first in the mile and 5,000-meter run, while Lauren Buresh finished first in the shot put. GVSU will open the 2011 outdoor season on March 25.
