Kansas sophomore thrower Mason Finley finished second in the shot put at the 2011 NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships to score eight points for KU, while freshman sprinter Diamond Dixon advanced to the finals in the 400 meters on Friday afternoon at the Gilliam Indoor Track Stadium on the Texas A&M campus.
Kansas sophomore thrower Mason Finley set the meet and venue record in the shot put with a throw of 20.40m (66-11.25ft.) at the New Balance Collegiate Invitational Friday night in New York City. His record throw earned him a first place finish, which was just one of several high finishes by other Jayhawks on the night, giving the team a solid start in day one of the two day meet. Two Kansas track and field athletes received academic honors by the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Thursday. KU's Eric Fattig and Mason Finley were two athletes of a total of 357 to be named to the USTFCCCA's All-Academic team.

Freshmen Mason Finley and Taylor Washington earned the ultimate title at the 2010 Big 12 Indoor Championships in Ames, Iowa, as both Kansas track and field athletes were crowned conference champions, Saturday at the Lied Recreation Center in Ames, Iowa. Finley won the shot put, while Washington captured the honor in the 600-yard run.
