A quick recap of how athletes with Ohio ties fared at the Olympic Trials.
Kibwe Johnson (Hammer), A.G. Kruger (Hammer), Tianna Madison (100m), Erik Kynard (High Jump), Bridget Franek (Steeplechase) and Hyleas Fountain (Heptathlon) all have ties to Ohio and have qualified to be on Team USA for the 2012 London Olympics.
This is a church story of sorts, except that in this one, Moses doesn’t come down from the mount to deliver a couple of stone tablets chiseled with 10 commandments. Instead, he calls and gives a pep talk and some pointed advice before flying over to London to prepare for next month’s Olympic Games.
And then Moses’ mom offers up some more tips following services at Bethel Baptist Church in Dayton last Sunday. (via http://www.daytondailynews.com/)
Antonio Blanks is Ohio's reigning D2 300m Hurdle champion. The Dayton Dunbar Senior has one goal in mind and that is to help lead his team to the D2 State Championship.
Wayne senior Demoye Bogle has been on fire the last two weeks. This week Demoye won three events, the 60m hurdles, 60m dash and the 200m dash, and both of the 60m races are current OH #1 and US Top 10 times. Last week Bogle posted an OH #1 and a US Top 10 time in the 55m dash on his way to winning four individual events.
While the official start of the indoor season was two weeks ago, this weekend is usually the time that most teams decide to dust off the spikes and open up their season. This weekend was full of new OH #1 and US Top 10 times.
The first "true" High School meet was held this past weekend at Ohio Northern University. Big Marks Include Eastwood Senior, Justin Welch, toss of 76-6 in the Weight Throw and Wayne's Demoye Bogle taking first in the 55m Dash in a time of 6.50.
National meets and the last in-state qualifier for the OATCCC Ohio Indoor State Championship Meet are in store for this edition of the weekend wrap up. Ohio seemed to have a minimal amount of entries in the national meets, but there were still some top notch athletes trying to make their mark on the national scene.
