Brittany Borman finished fourth in the javelin for Team USA Sunday at the U-23 NACAC Championships in Miramar, Fla., as the American side finished first in the competition with 74 medals including two gold medals from OU's Karen Shump (shot put) and Ronnie Ash (110-meter hurdles) on Friday.

Shump easily won gold in the shot put with a personal best as Team USA claimed the top two spots in the final standings while Ash ran away with the 110-meter hurdles title defeating competitors from five countries in the process.
Three athletes from the Oklahoma Track and Field program open up competition as members of Team USA Friday at the NACAC Under-23 Championships in Miramar, Fla. Ronnie Ash (110-meter hurdles), Brittany Borman (javelin) and Karen Shump (shot put) will all don the red, white and blue uniforms of the American team in the quest for gold.
Oklahoma redshirt-freshman Tia Brooks broke a classmate's program record in the shot put as she finished fourth overall Saturday at the USA Track and Field Championships. Brooks was one of a number of highlights for the Oklahoma program on the day as Mookie Salaam (200-meter dash) and Ronnie Ash (110-meter hurdles) both advanced to the semifinals in their respective events.
Mookie Salaam earned All-America honors Friday as three Oklahoma Track and Field athletes advanced to individual event finals in the first of two days at the 2010 NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships. Both Salaam and Scottesha Miller broke OU records in the 200-meter dash while Miller also qualified for the Saturday finals of the 60-meter dash, joining Ronnie Ash (60-meter hurdles) and Eric Harasyn (mile) in advancing in their respective events. Ash also joined the two in breaking program records as he broke his own record in the 60-meter hurdles in front of 3,233 fans inside the Randal Tyson Track Complex.
Oklahoma Track and Field athletes Ronnie Ash and Will Claye have remained on the updated watch lists for the 2010 Bowerman Award, track and field's equivalent to the Heisman, the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced Tuesday. With only 11 individuals on the current watch list for the award, the OU Track and Field program is one of only two in the nation to have multiple athletes on the watch list joining the University of Oregon with two athletes.
