SPARTANBURG, S.C. - The College of Charleston women's cross country team was voted to finish in a tie for seventh, while the men's team was picked ninth in the 2009 Southern Conference Preseason Poll. The poll was voted on by the leagues 11 head coaches.
The women's squad received 51 votes in the balloting to finish in a tie with UNC Greensboro and Western Carolina, while the men's team garnered 28 votes. The Appalachian State men's team and Samford women's team were voted first in their respective polls.
The Cougars open their 2009 season at the Eye Opener Invitational in Spartanburg, S.C. on Sept. 5th.
