Gainesville, Fla. - The Stetson men's and women's cross country teams traveled to Gainesville Friday evening to run in the Mountain Dew Invitational hosted by the University of Florida. The men ran an 8k and the women competed in a 5K.
As a team the Stetson women finished in 20th place out of 23 teams and the men placed 17th among 18 teams.
There were 228 runners in the race. The women competed without their top runner Colleen Mulholland. Maria Harper was Stetson's top finisher in 87th place with a time of 20:48.15. Following Harper for the Hatters were Stephanie Bird in 144th place (22:39.27), Jessica Spear in 165th (23:09.43), Kelsey Munson in 188th (23:55.79), and Katrina McKay in 206th (25:06.98).
On the men's side there were 198 runners. Kyle Burton led the way for the Hatters and finished in 102nd place with a time of 28:35.80. Following Burton were Brian Dughi in 157th place (31:07.80), Alex Kempinski in 167th (31:43.40), Peter Davis in 179th (33:38.60), Andrew Edgcomb in 182nd place (33:50.00), and MJ Gort in 195th (37:57.00).
