EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. - Freshman Nicole Benson (Peoria, Ill./Limestone H.S.) earned her second first place finish of the season at the SIU Edwardsville Border Wars Saturday. Behind Benson's time of 17:30.91, the women's team picked up their second victory of the season and finished with seven runners in the top-15. Junior Andrew Wieser (Chesterfield, Mo./Parkway Central H.S.) paced the Bradley men's team with a 15th place finish in 26:44.37. The men's team finished third for the fourth time this season.

In addition to Benson, freshman Emily Gustafson (East Peoria, Ill./East Peoria H.S.), seniors Amanda Switzer (Machesney Park, Ill./Harlem H.S.) and Rachel Brubaker (Davis, Ill./Durand H.S.) and junior Leann Murphy (Rochester, Ill./Rochester H.S.) each earned top-10 finishes. Gustafson crossed the finish line in third with a time of 18:20.12, followed by Switzer in sixth (18:41.65), Brubaker in ninth (18:52.50) and Murphy in 10th (19:21.42).

Senior Shannon Seyller (Harvard, Ill./Harvard H.S.) earned 14th place in 19:49.90, while junior teammate Lauren Fog (Harvard, Ill./Harvard H.S.) took 15th in 19:56.87.

In the men's race, senior Pat Greene (Joliet, Ill./Plainfield South H.S.) finish three seconds behind Wieser in 16th with a time of 26:47.84. Two more junior Braves finished in the top-25, including Brian Tyne (Polo, Ill./Polo H.S.) and Billy Miller (Metamora, Ill./Illinois Central/Metamora H.S.). Tyne earned 24th in 27:16.53, while Miller was 25th with a time of 27:19.23. Freshman Jon Richards (Streator, Ill./Streator H.S.) completed the scoring for Bradley with a time of 27:21.68, good for 27th place.

Due to weather adjustments, the men's and women's courses for Saturday's races were short of the intended 5K (-180m) and 8K (-60m) distances.

The Bradley men's and women's cross country teams will be back in action Friday, Oct. 16, as the Braves host the sixth annual Bradley Classic at Newman Golf Course. The meet opens with the men's 8K race at 4:15 p.m., followed by the women's 6K at 5 p.m.
