TERRE HAUTE, Ind.
– The Eastern Kentucky University cross country teams competed at the NCAA Pre-Nationals meet on Saturday afternoon, their final meet before the OVC Championships. Facing the best competition in the country, the men’s team finished 26th out of 35 teams in the white race while the women’s team placed 34th out of 37 teams in the blue race.

Junior Wesley Ruttoh paced the men by placing 64th out of 237 runners and covering the 8K course in a time of 24:40.5.

Senior Chris Rengifo was the Colonels’ second finisher, placing 105th in a time of 25:11.4.

Senior Stanley Mugo (114th place, 25:15.3), Senior Elkana Kurgat (147th, 25:39.8) and sophomore Chris Rice (179th, 26:02.7) rounded out the men’s team’s top-five finishers.

Stanford won the men’s white race while Colorado and BYU finished second and third, respectively.

EKU finished ahead of such schools as Central Michigan, Liberty, Cincinnati and Ole Miss.

Junior Katherine Pagano led the women’s team in the blue race, finishing 100th out of 249 runners and completing the 6K course in a time of 22:05.0.

Junior Sylvia Bundotich finished second on the women’s team and 157th overall with a time of 22:44.7.

Sophomore Danielle Mason (183rd, 23:04.3), junior Ashli Joseph (220th, 23:38.7) and senior Maria Doerger (231st, 24:05.8) rounded out the women’s team’s top-five finishers.

Colorado won the women’s blue race while Florida State took second and Oregon placed third. The Colonels placed ahead of such schools as Ohio and Ole Miss.
