Sang Returns to National Meet

EVANSVILLE – Running at ACU brings high expectations and junior Amos Sang is living up to those as he will make his third trip to the NCAA Division II Cross Country Championships November 21.

The race will be held at the University of Southern Indiana in Evansville, Indiana. The 10k men's race will begin at 1 p.m. following the women's 6k race which is scheduled to begin at noon.

Only two years removed from All-American Nicodemus Naimadu amazing run of four consecutive individual titles, Sang is looking to again represent ACU on the podium. Sang who has already made two trips to the NCAA Division II national meet and improved each year as he ran to a fourth place finish last year.

Running in three meets this season Sang has accumulated two first place finishes and a runner-up finish at the USI Pre-National Invitational on September 26. Although the two first place finishes have since propelled Sang to the National Championships again, his second place finish came on the same course that will be ran this weekend.

Finishing second to Stonehill College's Daniel Kirwa will be one of Sang's top competitors. Kirwa won the USI Pre-National Invite finishing ahead of Sang keeping him from winning every meet he has attended this season.

This weekend will also be the first time Sang will be competing without his teammates as ACU failed to qualify for the NCAA National meet as a team for the first time since 1997. Sang is coming off two of his best finishes after finishing first at the Lone Star Conference Championships and winning the South Central Regional two weeks ago.

Sang will be looking to reclaim a National Title for ACU after not placing a runner in the top 10 at last season's meet.
