KENT, OH - Junior
Alex Afloari (Deva, Romania) took first in the
triple jump to lead the Rockets track and field team at the second and final
day of the Golden Flash Gala in Kent, OH.
Afloari recorded a jump of 38-11.50, the sixth-best mark in
school-history. She won the triple for the second week in a row, and was four
and a half inches better than last week.
Junior Amanda Kaverman (Sylvania, OH) finished third in the 200 meter dash with her time
of 25.09, while junior Danielle Thomas
(Perrysburg, OH) took third in the 1000 meter run in 3:04.83, just one
second from a runner-up finish. Toledo also picked up a third-place showing in the 4x400 relay, as the team of junior Kimara Morgan (Columbus, OH), Kaverman and freshmen Kiah Douglas (Saginaw, MI) and Sarah Woodrum (Marion, OH) posted a time of 3:54.87.
Also in action was freshman Huijun Jing (Beijing, China), who placed fourth in the high jump at 5-04.50.
The Rockets are off for the winter break and will return to
action at the Western Michigan Dual at 4 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 10 in Kalamazoo, MI.
