BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – Eastern Kentucky University freshman Bianca Forbes was named the Ohio Valley Conference Female Track Athlete of the Week on Tuesday, the league office announced. In her first ever collegiate meet, Forbes ran the fastest 400 meters time in the conference this year, recording a 56.68 against a loaded field Saturday at the University of Kentucky Invitational.

Forbes’ time was also the fifth fastest indoor 400 meters time in EKU history. The indoor record is 55.61, set by Sheri Calhoun in 2003.

Forbes, a native of Toronto, Ontario, won the sixth heat of the race on Saturday and placed 18th overall out of 44 of some of the top collegiate 400 meters runners in the country, including student-athletes from Kentucky, Louisville, Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Mississippi State, Ohio State, Michigan State, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Vanderbilt, Miami (Fla.), Tennessee and Western Kentucky.

Forbes and the rest of the EKU track and field team return to action Jan. 29-30 when they head back to Lexington for the University of Kentucky Rod McCravy Invitational.
