KENNESAW, Ga. - The Kennesaw State Owls announced the addition of transfer Patricia Damron to the women’s track and field program on Tuesday

Damron, a freshman,  joins Kennesaw State’s program after one semester with the South Carolina Gamecocks. A local product out of Sequoyah High School in nearby Canton, Ga., Patricia is expected to compete mostly in javelin events, and the coaches believe she can be a big contributor to the program right away.

"We are glad to have Patricia Damron. She brings depth in the javelin throw and we will be looking at other events where she may be able to contribute,” Kennesaw State Owls head track and field coach Don McGarey said. “Patricia is no stranger to KSU, as she was cross-enrolled here while finishing at Sequoyah High School in Woodstock, Ga.”

Though the state of Georgia does not have Javelin as a formal event in their high school competitions, Damron honed her skills as a member of the Sequoyah Youth Track Club, where she holds the record in the Javelin throw at 35.74 meters (117'3").

McGarey’s Owls continue their indoor track season on Friday when they travel to Johnson City, Tenn. to take part in the Niswonger Invitational. It is hosted by Atlantic Sun Conference rival East Tennessee State, and will be the site of the A-Sun Indoor Track and Field Championships on February 26-27. The Black and Gold competed in the Appalachian State Invitational on December 5 to kick-off the season in their lone meet to this point.
