CEDAR FALLS, Iowa – Junior Mary Goldkamp (Florissant, Mo./McCluer North H.S.) picked up her
first victory of the indoor track & field season Saturday at the Jack
Jennett Invitational at Northern Iowa's UNI-Dome. Goldkamp finished first in
the 800-meter with a time of 2:15.86, edging UNI's Molly Cashman by less than two
seconds. The Braves earned 11 top-10 finishes Saturday, including one of two 4x400-meter
relay teams.
In the
600-meter run, sophomore Michelle Hartman (Savanna,
Ill./Prince of Peace H.S.) earned her second top-10 finish of the season,
placing 10th in 1:39.56. Bradley dominated the 1,000-meter run, placing five in
the top-10, including Katie Nowak (Avon Lake,
Ohio/Avon Lake H.S.), Leann Murphy (Rochester,
Ill./Rochester H.S.), Rachel Brubaker (Davis, Ill./Durand
H.S.), Shannon Seyller (Harvard,
Ill./Harvard H.S.) and Sarah Hallstein (Minier,
Ill./Olympia H.S.). Nowak finished third in 3:02.98, followed by Murphy in
fifth (3:07.20), Brubaker in sixth (3:12.60), Seyller in eighth (3:15.11) and
Hallstein in 10th (3:24.29).
Freshman Nicole Benson (Peoria, Ill./Limestone H.S.) missed a first-place
finish in the mile run by less than one second. Instead, Benson picked up her
second top-five finish of the season in the mile, earning second in
5:06.82. Junior Lauren Fog (Harvard, Ill./Harvard
H.S.) finished 10th in the mile in 5:21.83, while senior Tracy Lotter (Winnebago, Ill./Winnebago H.S.) was 12th in
5:37.90.
Bradley's
4x400-meter 'A' relay team of Hartman, Benson, Goldkamp and Murphy finished ninth of 17 teams with a time of 4:11.41. In the high jump, sophomore Lyndsey Cleghorn (Oswego, Ill./Oswego H.S.) finished fifth,
clearing 1.50-meters.
The Braves will
return to action on Feb. 5-6 at the Cyclone Open in Ames, Iowa.
