CEDAR FALLS, Iowa - One day after helping the distance medley relay team to a second-place finish, freshman Nicole Benson (Peoria, Ill./Limestone H.S.) captured third place in the mile run with a career-best time of 4:55.76 at the Missouri Valley Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships Sunday. By placing in the top-three, Benson earned her second all-MVC performance of the weekend.
Two more Braves posted season-best times in the mile run, including junior Lauren Fog (Harvard, Ill./Harvard H.S.) and senior Amanda Switzer (Machesney Park, Ill./Harlem H.S.). Fog finished 16th with a time of 5:16.27 and Switzer was 22nd in 5:38.72. High jumper Lyndsey Cleghorn (Oswego, Ill./Oswego H.S.) also set a season-best by clearing a height of 1.55-meters.
Wichita State won the women's team title with 151.5 points, followed by Southern Illinois (145.5), Indiana State (89), Illinois State (77), Missouri State (69), Drake (60), Northern Iowa (56) and Bradley (14).
The Braves will return to the track Saturday, March 6 at the NCAA Qualifier in Ames, Iowa.
