ACU sending 10 to indoor meet


ABILENE -- Ten ACU men's and women's athletes in 15 events will be competing at next weekend's NCAA Division II indoor national championship in Albuquerque, N.M.

The Wildcats will send six male athletes to compete in eight events, while the women's team will be represented by four athletes in seven events.  The meet gets started Friday, March 11, at the Albuquerque Convention Center and will conclude Saturday.

On the men's side, Amos Sang, Desmond Jackson and Ramon Sparks will compete in two events.  Sparks is the top-ranked triple-jumper in the nation, and he will also compete in the long jump.  Jackson will compete in both the 60 meters and the 200 meters.  Sang will compete in both the mile and 5000 meters for the Wildcats.

Defending national champion Andrew McDowell enters the indoor championship meet ranked No. 2 in the 60 hurdles.    Also in the meet for the men's team are pole vaulter Landon Ehlers and James Hardin in the heptathlon.

On the women's side, Jessica Blair, Wanda Hutson and Jessica Withrow will each compete in two events.  Blair will be in both the pole vault and triple jump, while Withrow is in the pentathlon.

Hutson is one of the nation's top sprinters and will compete in both the 60 meters and the 200 meters.  Anais Belledant is the Wildcats' only other female competitor, and she'll be in the mile.
