High Point University women's track & field team closed out the indoor season with two athletes running at the Virginia Tech Final Qualifier on Saturday at Rector Field House in Blacksburg, Va. Sophomore
Manika Gamble ran a season-best 56.06 in the 400-meter and sophomore
Erin Lonon ran a personal-record 1:00.57 in the same event.
"Manika ran well but was a little off where she wanted to be. For Erin it was a good indoor personal best in the 400," said HPU head coach
Mike Esposito.
Gamble's time of 56.06 was just off the High Point University indoor record of 55.94 that she set last season. She placed eighth in the event. Gamble also took 14th in the 200-meter, running a time of 25.53. That was just off her season-best, school-record setting time of 25.04 from last month.
Lonon's 1:00.57 was a career best in the 400-meter. She placed 16th in the event.
High Point University begins the outdoor season close to home, competing in the Wake Forest Open March 19-20 in Winston-Salem, N.C.
