CONWAY, SC - A strong performance in the 10,000 meter run highlighted the Toledo track and field team's first day of outdoor competition at the Coastal Carolina Invitational on Friday.
Audra Brown led a handful of Rockets who finished in the top-five in the 10,000 meter run, as the junior took second in 37:27.65. Emma Kertesz finished third (37:49.35), Lindsay Toussant fourth (38:11.51), Sarah Neubacher fifth (38:29.94) and Samantha Condron eighth (39:14.22) to round out the distance crew.
The Rockets also had a solid showing in the 4x800 meter relay, finishing sixth in a time of 10:12.58.
Jonathan DeWitt was also in competition for the Rockets, and he placed third in the men's 10,000 meter run with a time of 32:53.32.
"It was a hot and sunny day, and the 10K was a nice workout for our girls," Kevin Hadsell, head coach, said." They are just getting back to training so it is a nice sign of their strength. And Jon had a really nice race as well. He has really improved in his young career and I'm proud of him."
The two-day meet wraps up on Saturday in Conway, SC.
