CHARLESTON, S.C. - College of Charleston women's track & field continues its 2010 outdoor season with a trip to the Raleigh Relays, hosted by NC State.
The two-day meet kicks off Friday with the women's shot put at 10 a.m. Freshman Casey McKee (Johnsonville, S.C./Johnsonville) will participate in the third flight of the event. McKee threw a distance of 32'5" at the Shamrock Invitational. She will also compete in the discus on Friday and the hammer throw on Saturday afternoon.
Track events begin with the 5,000-meter run at 11 a.m. Four Cougars will represent the team in the event. Juniors Erin Stoddard (Mauldin, S.C./J.L. Mann) and Kristen Jenkins (Cheyenne, Wyo./Cheyenne Central) competed in the event at the Palmetto Invitational, where they finished sixth and seventh, respectively. The pair will be joined by senior Emily Nagle (Annapolis, Md./Richmond) and sophomore Grace Loba (Orean, Va./Faquier).
Two-time Southern Conference Track Athlete of the Week Jelain McArthur (Laurens, S.C./Laurens District) will compete in the 100-meter hurdles. McArthur broke the school record twice last weekend at the Shamrock Invitational, where she finished second with a time of 14.20 seconds. Sophomore Isabel Boersma (Franklin, Tenn./Ravenwood) and junior Brynne Johnson (Centerville, Ohio/Centerville) will also participate in the hurdles.
Junior Mary Zolga (Raynham, Mass./Bridgewater-Raynham) is also expected to perform well for Charleston, competing in the 400-meter hurdles. Zolga broke her own school record at the Palmetto Invitational, winning the event with a time of 1:05.40.
Select members of the men's cross country team will also compete in various middle-distance and distance races for CofC, as part of a five-meet allowance by the NCAA.
