The High Point University men's track & field team had five athletes competing in the final day of the adidas Raleigh Relays on Saturday and got a 13th-place finish from freshman
Josh Pelletier in the javelin.
Pelletier, who set the HPU record of 196-2 in the javelin at the Wake Forest Open, had a down week with a best throw of 174-4 at the Raleigh Relays. Sophomore
Ben AuYeung placed 28th in the javelin on Saturday.
On the track, HPU had three runners in the 1,500-meter on Saturday. Senior
Josh Cashman took 16th in his heat with a time of 4:13.78, sophomore
Alex Ruano placed ninth in his heat with a time of 4:21.23 and freshman
Seth Harwood placed 16th in his heat with a time of 4:32.21.
On Friday at the adidas Raleigh Relays, freshman
Dakota Peachee ran a career-best 15:11.02 in the 5,000-meter to place 13th in his section and junior
Justin Conaway clocked in at 10.94 in the 100-meter dash to place 25th.
HPU also sent five runners to the Stanford Invitational on Friday, where senior
Jesse Cherry set an HPU record of 28:44.05 in the 10,000-meters. Senior
Cole Atkins and sophomore
Neal Darmody also set career bests in the 10,000-meter and senior
Josh Morgan recorded a career best of 3:49.16 in the 1,500-meter. Junior
Jevin Monds ran 3:54.18 in the 1,500-meter.
The High Point University men's track & field team will next be in action at the Asics Duke Invitational in Durham, N.C., April 2-3.
