BRENTWOOD, Tenn.
– Eastern Kentucky University sophomore Lutisha Bowen has been named the Ohio Valley Conference Female Track Athlete of the Week. Bowen ran an OVC-best 14.01 in the 100-meter hurdles this weekend at the North Carolina State Raleigh Relays, and she was also a member of the winning 4x200 meter relay team.

The Louisville, Ky. native ran a 14.01 in the preliminaries of the 100-meter hurdles and then placed 10th in the finals with a time of 14.20. Her time of 14.01 is 0.29 seconds faster than the second-fastest time in the conference.

Bowen also teamed up with fellow sophomore Diamond Benjamin and freshmen Bianca Forbes and Jazzmin Jeter to win the 4x200 meter relay at the N.C. State Raleigh Relays. The young team defeated a talented field that featured teams from schools such as Ohio State, Wake Forest, East Carolina and the host, N.C. State.

This is Bowen’s first career OVC Track Athlete of the Week honor.

The track and field Colonels return to action this weekend when they head to the University of Cincinnati Invitational and the Centre College Invitational, both of which take place on Saturday, April 3.
