McArthur Receives SoCon Indoor Track Athlete of the Week Honors

McArthur Earns SoCon Field Athlete of the Week Accolades

CHARLESTON, S.C. - College of Charleston's Jelain McArthur (Laurens, S.C./Laurens District) was named the Southern Conference Field Athlete of the Week for the week of Apr. 1.

This is McArthur's first Field Athlete of the Week award after having been named the SoCon Track Athlete of the Week the previous two weeks. The rookie has earned more weekly honors for CofC than any other athlete throughout the indoor and outdoor seasons.

McArthur broke the school record in the triple jump for the second time this season at the Raleigh Relays on Mar. 27. After setting a record of 38'3½" in the season opener on Mar. 12, she bested her own mark with a distance of 39'5" to place ninth in a field of more than 50 on Saturday. She currently owns records in three different outdoor events.

Samford's Hillary Neal was named the SoCon Track Athlete of the Week after finishing second in the 1,5000 meters at the Alabama Relays with a time of 4:33.

The Cougars return to North Carolina this weekend to compete in the Duke Invitational on Apr. 2-3.
