COLUMBIA, MO. -- Running in the first 400-meter hurdle race of her career, junior
Ari Curtis (Fort Collins, Colo.) set a school record to highlight action for the Drake women's track and field team Saturday at the Tom Botts Invitational.
Curtis, running out of lane one, posted a winning time of 1:00.00 to better the previous mark of 1:00.59 set by Julie Head in 2000.
"That was pretty sweet," beamed Drake head track and field coach Natasha Kaiser-Brown. "Ali ran the race as if she had done it all her life. You would have never known it was her first time.
