Freshman Vanessa Piacente won the 3,000-meter and sophomore Monica Delizo won the 5,000-meter to lead the High Point University women's track & field team at the Aggie Relays at North Carolina A&T on Friday and Saturday in Greensboro, N.C.

Piacente and fellow freshman Kelsey Hunt finished 1-2 in the 3,000-meter. Piacente got the win in 10:56.22 and Hunt finished in 11:05.78. On Friday night, Delizo finished the 5,000-meter in 20:00.14 for the win. Delizo was running it as pace training for the 10,000-meter.

Sophomore Erin Lonon completed the 400-meter hurdles in 1:05.74, good for third place, and also placed 17th in the open 400-meter in 1:00.18. Sophomore Lora Robinson finished the preliminaries of the 100-meter hurdles in 15.72 to qualify for the finals, then ran an identical time to place 13th in the event. She also placed 27th in the 100-meter dash in 13.40. Rachel Webb was just ahead of Robinson in the 100-meter dash, taking 26th in 13.35 and took 29th in the 400-meter in 1:02.76.

The Panthers had four throwers compete at the Aggie Relays, with freshman Lynee Pina notching seventh in the discus and senior Amber Donnelly placing seventh in the javelin. Pina threw the discus a career-best 119-6 and placed 10th in the javelin (95-0) and 17th in the shot put (34-3). Donnelly heaved the javelin 112-5. Sophomore Joy Hunt threw the discus 116-10, good for eighth, and placed 19th in the shot put with a season-best 34-2.25. Senior Kara Boatman placed 15th in the shot put with a heave of 35-1.75.

Sophomore Gabrielle Barnes competed in the high jump and shot put, placing ninth and 26th, respectively.

Next weekend, the Panthers will be in two locations again. HPU will be back at North Carolina A&T for the Murray Neely Invitational and will send competitors to the Carolina Classic at UNC.
