Women's Track Competes at Carolina Cup

ROCK HILL, S.C. -- The Wildcat women's track and field team finished fourth as competition concluded at the Asic/Winthrop Carolina's Cup on the campus' Irwin Belk Track Friday.

Freshman Natalie Atabek finished fourth in the 3000 meters with a time of 10:18.06, followed immediately by junior Heather Conarroe with a time of 10:18.41.

In the 800 meters, sophomore Jane Gay finished 11th in 2:31.99, ahead of freshman Caroline Gecker with a 12th-place time of 2:35.18. Gay also finished eighth in the 1500 meters with a time of 5:11.72, while junior Sarah Cline was fourth in the event with a time of 5:01.31.

Freshman Shelby Wagenseller was fourth in the 200 meters (27.75) and eighth in the 400 meters (1:04.36). Classmate Rosie Lewis placed fourth in the 400 meters with a time of 1:00.93 and was sixth in the 100-meter hurdles in 15.43. Freshman Cara Wilck placed fourth in the 3000-meter steeplechase with a time of 12:41.92.

The Wildcats continue their weekend of competition at the JCSU Invitational in Charlotte Saturday.
