Sophomore Manika Gamble finished fourth in the 100-meter hurdles and seventh in the 200-meter dash to lead the High Point University women's track & field team at the Joe Hilton Carolina Fast Times meet at UNC on Saturday in Chapel Hill, N.C.

"That was a good opportunity for sharpening for Manika," said HPU head coach Mike Esposito. "She will be able to focus on just the hurdles next week at the Big South Championship. I also thought Joy Hunt and Lynee Pina threw well in the discus tonight, both of them have really been improving. It was also good to see Christina Fenske equal her career best in the high jump."

Gamble finished the 100-meter hurdles in 14.29 seconds and ran a career-best 24.93 in the 200-meter. Sophomore Christina Fenske cleared 5-7 in the high jump, which tied her career best and HPU record set last season.

Leading HPU in the throws, senior Amber Donnelly finished fifth in the javelin with a throw of 121-3.
Sophomore Joy Hunt and freshman Lynee Pina each had strong performances in the discus and Kara Boatman threw the shot put.

On the track, Erin Lonon placed fifth in the 400-meter hurdles in a time of 1:06.28. Freshman Emma Tobin placed 16th in the 400-meter and freshman Vanessa Piacente placed 25th in the 800-meter. Sophomore #Gabrielle Barnes took 10th in the 100-meter hurdles 13th in the long jump.

The Panthers compete for the conference title next week as the Big South Championship runs April 15-17 at Charleston Southern.
