KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - Kennesaw State freshman Nabil Hamid broke the school's outdoor record in the 10,000 Meter Run to headline the Owls' performance at the Sea Relays in Knoxville, Tenn. A total of nine top-10 finishes were recorded by the Owls in the two-day event that featured some of the top track programs in the country.

Nabil, who hails from Ethiopia, ran the 10,000 Meters in 30:41.73 to finish in eighth place and break Phil Richey's record of 30:56 that the Owl legend had set at the 1987 NAIA National Outdoor Track and Field Championship. The achievement was especially impressive for Hamid, considering that it was the first time in his collegiate career that he ran that event. Junior Nathan Haskins finished 10th, with a time of 30:58.26.

Among the most successful Owls of the weekend were the hurdles, as the team posted a pair of top-10 performances in both the 110 Meter and 400 Meter Hurdle events. Sophomore Kendall Parks and freshman Tremaine Grant finished fifth and seventh, respectively, in the 110 Meter Hurdles, running times of 14.37 and 14.43 seconds. Grant and junior Josh James finished fourth and 10th in the 400 Meter Hurdles, respectively, with times of 53.32 and 55.06 seconds.

Middle-distance specialists Daniel Grass and Michael Guntner both competed in the unseeded 800 Meter race, with Grass posting a runner-up finish of 1:53.52 and Guntner earning the eighth position with a time of 1:55.31.

Freshman Cameron Zeman was the only field athlete to compete for the Owls this weekend, taking part in the High Jump. He cleared 1.95 meters to finish 15th.

Making the trip allowed the Owls to compete with some of the top programs in track and field. Programs such as Tennessee, who hosted the event, were joined by the likes of South Florida, Cincinnati, Alabama, and Kentucky.

The Owls continue their outdoor schedule next weekend, when they travel to Auburn to take part in the Auburn War Eagle Invitational April 16-17.
