AUBURN, Ala. – A pair of school records fell, and five individuals finished in the top-three in their respective events to highlight a very successful weekend for the Kennesaw State women’s track and field team at the Auburn War Eagle Invitational.

Freshman Michelle Quimby broke her own school record in the Pole Vault, achieving a top clearance of 3.70 Meters (12’1.50”) to top the record of 3.58 Meters that she set at the Florida Relay two weeks ago. The jump placed her second in the event, matching her with junior Mackenzie Howe’s runner-up performance in the 5000 Meters (17:19.27) for the top finish by an Owl this weekend.

Also re-writing the school record book this weekend was freshman Cynthia Davis in the 100 Meters. Though she finished 14th overall in the event, her time of 11.98 seconds topped the 12.02 second efforts of Salethia Mims and teammate Vicki Jackson. Mims held the mark since her effort in 2004, while Jackson temporarily joined her in the record books back in March at the Beynon Sports Surfaces Catamount Classic.

Brittany Robinson, Lorena Jaime, and Erin Sutton all logged third place finishes in their respective events. Robinson, a sophomore, ran a time of 2:16.15 in the 800 Meters, while senior Lorena Jaime placed third in the 3000 Meter Steeplechase with an 11:59.86 effort. Sutton, also a senior, was the next runner behind Howe in the 5000 Meters, finishing up in 17:51.27.

Overall, the weekend at Auburn produced eight top-three finishes, with six of them coming in running events.

Head Coach Don McGarey’s squad will have the opportunity to break more school records in two weeks, as well as have some of his athletes place in the top-48 in the NCAA East Region to earn themselves a spot in the NCAA East Region Championships when they compete in the Georgia Tech/Clemson Duals on May 1st. The event will be hosted by Georgia Tech.
