Soholt, Heppner Claim First at Howard Wood Dakota Relays

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - North Dakota State senior Sam Soholt won the discus and freshman Moses Heppner claimed the 800 meters to lead the Bison at the Howard Wood Dakota Relays on Friday, April 30.

Soholt won the discus with a season-best mark of 161 feet 8 inches.  Heppner's 800 time was 1:52.83.

Two Bison also put on all-time top 10 performances.  In the hammer, junior Logan Hollankamp was second with a personal best throw of 182-6.  The mark is fourth all-time. 

Sophomore Kevin Jackson was second in the 400 meter feature race in a personal best time of 47.41, ranking fourth on the NDSU performance charts.  The feature race showcased the athletes with the top times in the 400 meter field.

In the 400 meters, redshirt freshman Andrew Balzer was second in 49.76.  Junior Eric Stroh placed second n the 800 meters in 1:53.21.

NDSU will conclude competion at the Howard Wood Dakota Relays on Saturday, May 1.
