NORMAL, Ill. -- Senior Erika Sepich (Canton, Ill./Canton) finished sixth in the javelin to highlight the opening day of competition for the Bradley Track and Field team at the 2010 Missouri Valley Conference Outdoor Championship.
Sepich had a season-best toss of 126-08 (38.62 meters) and was Bradley's top finisher during the first day of the Valley Championship as she earned three points for her sixth place showing. It marked the second consecutive year Sepich scored at the Valley Outdoor Championship, after finishing fifth in the javelin at last year's event in Terre Haute, Ind.
Freshman Nicole Benson (Peoria, Ill./Limestone) was Bradley's top finisher in the 10,000 meters in the only other event which featured a Bradley competitor. Benson crossed the line in 12th place with a time of 37:54.24 to pace three Braves in the event. Following Benson was junior Lauren Fog (Harvard, Ill./Harvard) who finished 14th at 39:35.19 and fellow junior Tracy Lotter (Winnebago, Ill./Winnebago) was 15th at 39:46.99.
The 2010 MVC Outdoor Track and Field Championship continues Saturday in Normal, Ill.
