PEORIA, Ill. -- Led by record-setting performances from the men's basketball, soccer and women's cross country teams, Bradley University's student-athletes enjoyed a stellar semester in the classroom during the 2010 Spring term as nearly 70 percent of the school's 176 student-athletes earned a spot on the latest Bradley Athletic Director's Honor Roll.

The Bradley Athletic Director's Honor Roll recognizes student-athletes who post a minimum 3.0 semester grade point average (4.0) scale while completing at least nine hours of coursework.  In all, 125 student-athletes qualified for the honor roll during the 2010 Spring

"Bradley student-athletes pursue diverse and challenging courses of study throughout their academic careers," said Bradley Director of Athletics Dr. Michael Cross.  "Having such a high percentage of our student-athletes perform at these levels is a sign that they are working closely with the faculty and have the support of their coaches and academic advisors to be fully committed to maximizing their Bradley education.  It is my hope that all of these student-athletes continue to flourish academically as they did this past term."

The Bradley men's basketball team had a program-best nine players on the 2010 Spring AD Honor Roll, leading to a program-record 3.10 team GPA during the most-recent grading period.  The academic performance marks the third time in the last four semesters the Braves have set the program record for team grade point average since the school began tracking the academic numbers in the mid-1980's.  Meanwhile, the women's cross country team set an athletic department record by posting a 3.77 team GPA while landing all 19 runners on the 2010 Spring AD Honor Roll, including 10 with perfect 4.0 marks.

In another record-setting showing, 17 of the Bradley soccer team's 23 players earned a spot on the Bradley AD Honor Roll for the 2010 Spring semester as the team posted a program-best 3.28 grade point average.
 
Like the cross country team, all 14 volleyball players that met the minimum course requirements for the AD Honor Roll earned a spot on the list during the 2010 Spring semester, as well as 18 of the 20 softball players and five of the six women's golfers and women's tennis players.

Notably, many of the student-athletes recognized as all-conference performers for their achievements in competition also excelled in the classroom:  of the 23 Braves to earn All-Missouri Valley Conference distinction during the 2009-10 season, 20 landed on the AD Honor Roll this spring.
