GREENSBORO, N.C.- Junior Jill Arthur wrapped up the Kennesaw State women’s track and field program’s participation in the 2010 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Saturday, placing 44th in the Triple Jump with a jump of 11.88 Meters (38'11.75") at Aggie Stadium on the campus of North Carolina A&T in Greensboro, N.C.

“It was an amazing experience, getting to compete with these top athletes today,” said Arthur, who won the Atlantic Sun Conference Outdoor Triple Jump title with her NCAA-qualifying leap of 12.60 meters two weeks ago. “I’m disappointed that I didn’t perform better, but this was a new atmosphere for me. I’d watched athletes like this on TV and at meets, but to be among them and compete against them was a great experience. I can’t wait to come back here next year and be one of the top finishers.”

Arthur fouled on her first two jumps before landing her third and final attempt. She was among the 48 contestants to compete in the NCAA East Preliminary Round, with the top-12 finishers on Saturday moving on to the national finals in Eugene, Ore. On June 9. She came into the event seeded 25th, and had the highest qualifying distance among the 12 competitors in her heat.

This was the first time that Arthur, along with the rest of her squad, was eligible for the NCAA Championships, as the Kennesaw State athletic department just finished the NCAA’s mandatory, four-year, Division I re-classification process. Mackenzie Howe also represented the Owls in the championship, finishing 20th in the 10,000 Meters on Thursday evening with a time of 36:04.17.
