Complete Regional Top 10 Rankings

May 5, 2010-- The North Central College women's track and field team reclaimed the top spot in the Midwest Region in the fifth installment of the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Regional Team Index Top 10 Rankings, released Wednesday.

The Cardinals tallied 401.94 points in this week's rankings moving past College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin rival Illinois Wesleyan University, who falls to second with 398.43 points. The University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh is third (321.70 points) followed by Washington University in Saint Louis in fourth (310.84 points) and the University of Chicago (309.62 points) in fifth. Conference foes Wheaton College is ninth (137.22 points) while Millikin University moves into the rankings at No. 10 with 121.61 points.

The Regional Team Index uses data provided by Track & Field Results Reporting System (TFRRS) for only the 2010 outdoor season and is a reflection of a team's all-around strength. The regional team index is scored using the current national-team ranking formula as if there were eight separate regional championships across the country.

North Central won three events and earned three provisional qualifiers at Friday's Benedictine University Twilight Invitational. Brandye Jackson won the 100-meter hurdles, running a provisional qualifying time of 14.87 while in the field events, Michelle Criscione cleared a provisional qualifying height of five feet six inches to win the high jump while Rachel Secrest vaulted 11' 7 3/4" to claim the pole vault.

The Cardinals make the short trip to Wheaton College this weekend for the two-day CCIW Championships beginning on Friday at 10 a.m. inside McCully Stadium.
