Cralle takes 8th at USA Championships

Sam Houston State hammer thrower Chris Cralle had great showing this past weekend at the USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Des Moines, Iowa.

Cralle threw 233-feet, 3-inches, to finish eighth in the field of 19 of the top hammer throwers in the country.

Cralle is a two-time Southland Conference champion in the hammer (2008, 2009) and redshirted this past season for the Bearkats. He competed for the Bearkats twice at the NCAA championship, taking 24th in 2008 and 15th in 2009. Cralle was able to qualify for the USA Championships with his performance last season.

Cralle is not done competing on the national stage this summer. He was selected to compete on the NACAC Under-23 US national team. The 2010 NACAC (North American, Central American, and Caribbean Athletic Association) Under 23 Track & Field Championships will be held at the Miramar Ansin Sports Complex in Miramar, Fla., from July 9-11.
