The Altamonte Springs, Fla., native is one of two Americans set to compete in the decathlon at the championships along with 2010 University of Arkansas signee Kevin Lazas. The 10 events of the decathlon will begin with the 100-meter dash Tuesday at 9:35 a.m.

The Championships are set to take place at the newly built Stade Moncton 2010 Stadium in Moncton, Canada in the province of New Brunswick, a little under 100 miles from the border with Maine.

Wise qualified for the event after capturing the title at the USA Junior Outdoor Track and Field Championships over Lazas June 23-24 at Drake. Wise totaled 7,300 points and held off Lazas, who compiled 7,291 points. Wise finished four seconds behind Lazas in the final event, the 1,500 meters, to win the title last month.

The junior American record in the decathlon stands at 7,638 points, set by BYU's Keith Robinson May 30-31, 1983.

In winning the title, Wise became USF's second straight USA junior national champion after rising junior Casey Wagner won the javelin title in 2009. The Bulls had never had a junior national champion prior to Wagner.

He will also become the third USF athlete ever to wear the Red, White and Blue, joining Wagner and 2008 Olympian Damu Cherry.

Wise recently completed his rookie season despite missing a good portion of the indoor and outdoor seasons due to a leg injury. He finished seventh in the long jump at the BIG EAST Outdoor Championships and also competed in the 400 hurdles. He was also an indoor qualifier in the 60 meters, 60 hurdles and long jump.

Prior to arriving at USF, Wise captured the USATF Junior Olympic Championship in the decathlon and the Nike Indoor National Championship in the pentathlon in high school before taking third at last year's USA Junior Championships.

A total of 82 athletes will represent the U.S. at the IAAF World Junior Championships, held every two years. The 2010 championships will mark the largest sporting event ever held in Atlantic Canada and will be held Monday through Sunday. At the 2008 championships, the U.S. finished with 20 medals, six more than second-place Kenya.
