MONCTON, New Brunswick -- Rising sophomore
Bruno Hortelano-Roig finished 21st overall in the 200m at the IAAF World Junior Championships on Thursday in Moncton, New Brunswick. He still remains eligible to compete with Spain on the 4x100m relay team.
Hortelano-Roig finished his preliminary heat fifth, but with the third-fastest time outside of the automatic qualifiers to the semifinals, earning him a berth in the next round. However, a severe case of shin splints caused him to not start the semifinal heat and finish 21st overall. Despite running with severe pain in his legs, he still ran 21.51, slightly faster than his 2010 Heptagonal Championship time of 21.54.
