MADISON, Wis. (Sept. 3, 2010)-- Amanda Laesch finished fourth overall, helping the North Central College women's cross country team to a fourth place finish at the second annual Badger Classic Friday evening at the Zimmer Cross Country Course.

Laesch traversed the 4,000-meter course in 14:31 to lead the Cardinal contingent with Lauren Hooks racing to a 23rd place finish in 15:22. Kala Bingham finished one second shy of cracking the top 25, placing 26th in 15:42 while Amy Schwent finished 31st in 15:58. Ann Middleton rounded out the Cardinal top five, finishing 33rd in her collegiate debut with a time of 16:01. Marquette University's Olivia Johnson was the individual champion, crossing the tape in 14:19.

North Central was the top scoring non-Division I squad at the eight-team event, amassing 117 points in the team tally for fourth place. Northwestern University won the meet with 23 points followed by Marquette (60 points) and host University of Wisconsin (83 points). Division II Lewis University was fifth (122 points), Division I Northern Illinois University was sixth (154 points) with the Wisconsin Track Club (203 points) and Edgewood College (243 points) rounding out the field, finishing seventh and eighth, respectively.

The Cardinals, ranked seventh in the Midwest Region, return to action next Friday, making the short trip to Aurora University for the Spartan Invitational.
