Complete Rankings

Sept. 14, 2010-- The North Central College men's cross country squad remains second in the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association regional rankings, released Tuesday.

The top seven spots in the Midwest Region remain unchanged from the preseason with Washington University of Saint Louis retaining its position as the region's top ranked squad. The Cardinals are second followed by the University of Wisconsin-Platteville (third), University of Wisconsin-La Crosse (fourth) and the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater (fifth). College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin rivals Augustana College and Wheaton College are ranked ninth and 10th, respectively.

The Cardinals finished second at Friday's Aurora University Spartan Invitational, scoring 48 points with all of their top five finishers among the top 22 individual competitors despite a majority of the team's veterans sitting out in preparation for this weekend's Illinois Intercollegiates. Pat Lesiewicz claimed his first collegiate victory, traversing the 8,000-meter course in 25:36.1. Kevin Sparks placed fifth in 25:52.7 while John Crain was eighth (26:05.2).

North Central returns to action on Friday, traveling downstate to Normal, Ill. for the Illinois Intercollegiates held at the Weibring Golf Club. Racing is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m.
