Wildcats fifth in San Antonio


SAN ANTONIO – The ACU Wildcat women's cross country team ran to a respectable fifth-place finish last Friday at the Ricardo Romo / Six Flags Fiesta Texas Classic.
 
The Wildcats finished with 154 points, finishing well behind team champion Texas, which won the meet with a perfect score of 15 points. Texas A&M-Corpus Christi finished second with 67 points.  Then came three schools that finished in a tight bunch from third through fifth place.  Texas-San Antonio was third with 131 points, followed by Texas-Pan American with 137 points and, finally, ACU with 154 points.
 
ACU's top finisher over the 5,000-meter Brooks City-Base trail was Anais Belledant, who finished 12th overall in 18:29.  She was followed closely by Alyse Goldsmith (18:40 for 14th) and Chloe Susset (18:46
for 16th).
 
The rest of ACU's runners were Sally Hays (20:46 for 46th), Oksana Hays (22:07 for 66th) and Rachel Belcher (23:21 for 78th).
 
The ACU men's and women's cross country teams will be back in action this weekend at the Oklahoma State Cowboy Jamboree in Stillwater, Okla.
