Wildcats post pair of top-10s

STILLWATER, Okla. – The ACU men's and women's cross country teams both posted top-10 finishes Saturday at the Oklahoma State Cowboy Jamboree with the women finishing eighth and the men 10th at the OSU Cross Country Course.

Oklahoma State swept the team titles, scoring 25 points to beat runner-up Kansas State (47 points) for the women's title, and then scoring 28 points to top second-place Michigan (110 points) for the men's title.

The ACU women were eighth with 215 points and were second among NCAA Division II schools in the meet behind third-place Pittsburg State (142 points).

The ACU men – the No. 1 team in the NCAA Division II South Central Region – were 10th with 257 points, but finished fourth among NCAA Division II teams as regional foes Central Missouri (fourth with 175 points), Pittsburg State (eighth with 215 points) and East Central (ninth with 250 points) all finished ahead of the Wildcats.

For the Wildcat men, senior Amos Sang finished fourth in the individual standings, covering the 8000 meters in 24:25.04.  Cleophas Tanui was 15th in 25:04.40, but those were the Wildcats' only two top-60 finishers.

On the women's side, ACU had three top-30 finishers, led by Anais Belledant, who covered the 6000 meters in 22:24.62.  Chloe Susset was 27th in 23:04.81 and Alyse Goldsmith was 29th in 23:08.99.

ACU will return to action on Saturday, Oct. 9, when it hosts the Naimadu Pre-Conference meet at Sherrod Park.
