Laesch Earns Third CCIW Award

Sept. 27, 2010 - North Central College women's cross country runner Amanda Laesch has been honored with her third College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin Runner of the Week Award for the 2010 season.

Laesch finished fourth out of 453 runners in the Division III race at the University of Minnesota Roy Griak Invitational on Saturday. Her time of 22 minutes, 22.5 seconds in the 6,000-meter (3.75-mile) race led the Cardinals to a sixth-place finish.

Laesch has now won three of the four CCIW Runner of the Week Awards this season. She also received the honor on Sept. 8 following a fourth-place finish at the University of Wisconsin Badger Classic and on Sept. 21 following a sixth-place effort at the Illinois Intercollegiate Championships.

The Cardinals, ranked seventh in the Midwest Region, will travel to Somers, Wis., on Friday for the Carthage College Invitational. The meet will be held at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside's Wayne E. Dannehl National Cross Country Course and will begin at 3 p.m.
