USTFCCCA Rankings

Sept. 29, 2010-- The United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association released the fourth installment of the NCAA Division III National Coaches Poll on Wednesday with the North Central College men's cross country squad maintaining its No. 1 ranking for the second consecutive week.

The Cardinals amassed 280 points in the week three rankings, securing all eight first place votes as the top five remained unchanged from a week ago. Washington University in Saint Louis holds the No. 1 spot with 269 points followed by Allegheny College (Pa.) in third with 261 points. Haverford College (Pa.) is fourth with 257 points while the State University of New York-Geneseo rounds out the top five, garnering 250 points. Augustana College is the only other College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin institution in the Top 35 rankings, climbing 14 spots in the rankings to No. 14 with 167 points.

The Cardinals were idle last week, having last competed on Sept. 17 when the squad placed second at the Illinois Intercollegiate Championships. Five North Central runners placed in the top 20 at the Illinois Intercollegiates, including Michael Spain who captured the individual title after finishing the 8,000-meter race in 24:23.

North Central competes as a split-squad this weekend, bringing a team to South Bend, Ind. on Friday, Oct. 1 for the Notre Dame Invitational while the rest of the squad heads up to Somers, Wis. for the Carthage Invitational.
