DES MOINES, IOWA -- Senior Luke Schafer (Centennial, Colo.) placed seventh in the Grand View Invitational men's cross country meet Friday helping lead the Drake junior varsity team to a second-place finish in the eight-team meet.

Schafer was timed in 27 minutes 40 seconds in the 8,000-meter race held at Ewing Park. 

Drake junior Brandon Lewis (Plymouth, Minn.) was ninth in 27:52, while freshman Nate Paulson (Menomonee Falls, Wis.) was 11th in 28:00. Junior Josh Buschling  (Washington, Mo.) was 13th in 28:07. Freshman Matt Eckman (Iowa City, Iowa) finished 15th in 28:13. Sophomore Steve Bruxvoort (Mitchellville, Iowa) was 27th in 29:05 and junior Matt Jurysta (Oshawa, Ontario, Canada) finished 28th in 29:13.

The majority of Drake's men's team will run in the Loyola Lakefront Invitational in Chicago, Ill., this Saturday.
