Big 12 Teams Dominate NCAA Regionals

Four Big 12 women's cross country teams and four men's teams have qualified for the 2010 NCAA Championships. The top two teams from each regional automatically qualify for nationals, while the top four individuals not associated with either of the top two teams also qualify. The NCAA Championships will be held on Monday, Nov. 22, in Terre Haute, Ind.

The Big 12 dominated in the Midwest Regional, as the Oklahoma men's team placed first and the Oklahoma State men took second. On the women's side, Iowa State earned a first-place finish, while Oklahoma State placed second.

In the South Central regional, the Texas men's and women's teams placed second in their respective races. The Texas Tech women's team and the Colorado men's team each earned second-place finishes in the Mountain Regional.

Eight individuals from around the Big 12 Conference earned NCAA bids, including Tara Upshaw (Texas A&M), Cate Westhenhover (Baylor), Robyn Bennett (Baylor), Laura Tremblay (Colorado), Laura Thweatt (Colorado), David Adams (Nebraska), Don Wasinger (Kansas) and Lara Crofford, (Nebraska).
