McMahon Added To NCAA Cross Country Field

ITHACA, N.Y. -- Cornell freshman Devin McMahon was added to the field for the 2010 NCAA Cross Country Championships by virtue of her finish in Saturday's NCAA regional in Madison, Conn. McMahon, who finished 11th at the Northeast Regional out of 247 runners, earned one of four individual qualifying spots from the Northeast Region.

McMahon was the second freshman in the field at the regional meet and became the fourth individual after the team qualifiers Syracuse, Stony Brook, Providence and Boston College were added to the national meet. McMahon remained as the fourth highest individual finisher and was granted a berth in the national championships.

McMahon is the first Cornell women's individual qualifier at the NCAA Championships since Toni-Lynn Salucci qualified for the 2006 meet. She is also the sixth Cornell women in the last 11 years to earn a spot a the national championships.

The NCAA Championship will be contested on Monday, Nov. 22, at the Wabash Family Sports Center in Terre Haute, Ind., hosted by Indiana State University. The women's race will begin at approximately 12:08 p.m.
