ACU No. 16 in Directors Cup

Complete Standings

CLEVELAND, Ohio – With the completion of six NCAA Championships Abilene Christian currently ranks in the top 20 of all Division II schools in the Learfield Sports Directors' Cup fall standings.

ACU is 16th earning points for three teams reaching post-season competition. Women's soccer, volleyball, and men's cross country all reached the NCAA Tournament in their respective sports to earn points for ACU in the Directors' Cup standings. 

Women's soccer earned their first berth in the NCAA Tournament clinching the Lone Star Conference automatic bid winning the LSC Post-Season Tournament and advancing to the second round. Volleyball picked up an at-large bid finishing runner-up in the LSC and also advanced to the NCAA Second Round.

Men's cross country also returned to the NCAA Championships running to a 15th place finish paced by an all-America finish from Amos Sang.

Grand Valley State sits atop the Division II standings after taking home two national championships in women's cross country and women's soccer and placing third in men's cross country and a fifth place finish in volleyball.

Six of the seven fall NCAA Championships have been completed with the following institutions capturing titles: women's soccer – Grand Valley State; men's soccer – Northern Kentucky; women's volleyball – Concordia (Minn.); women's field hockey – Massachusetts Lowell; men's cross country – Adams State (Colo.); women's cross country – Grand Valley State. 

The final fall standings will be released Thursday December 23, shortly after the NCAA Division II Football Championships are played. ACU should make a move and jump a few spots after making their fifth consecutive post-season appearance in football. 

The Learfield Sports Directors' Cup was developed as a join effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and USA Today. Points are awarded based on each institution's finish in up to 14 sports – seven women's and seven men's.
