CRAWFORDSVILLE, Ind.—The Bellarmine University men's and women's indoor track season got started in a big way on Saturday as both teams competed in the 2010 Robert H. Johnson Early Bird Invitational at Wabash College.

Bellarmine left their mark on the event even though there were no team scores kept as the women won eight events on the day while the men won seven.

In all eight school records fell during the meet, an encouraging feet considering the indoor season usually starts during early January.

“We were solid across the board,” said Bellarmine Head Coach Jim Vargo. “We had a couple of school records, and almost everyone had personal bests. We had a few freshman competing today, and I thought they all did very well for competing in their first collegiate meet.”

Both the men's and women's teams will next travel back to Crawfordsville for another meet at Wabash on Jan. 22.
