Former Track Coach to Receive Hall of Fame Induction

The Illinois Track & Cross Country Coaches Association has announced that former North Central College track & field coach Doug Malinsky will be inducted into the Coaches' Hall of Fame on Jan. 8, 2011 at its winter clinic and banquet. Malinsky coached the long jumpers and triple jumpers at North Central for 22 seasons before retiring in 2009.

While at North Central, Malinsky produced three NCAA Division III long jump champions, as well as a national champion in the triple jump. He coached 26 All-Americans and 44 CCIW Champions. Malinsky was also a member of a coaching staff that won five NCAA Division III National Championships.

Malinsky began his coaching career at Lockport High School, where he held the head track and field, assistant track and field, and assistant cross country positions. At Lockport, he coached three student-athletes to Class AA state championships.

In addition to his successful coaching career, Malinsky has also served as the treasurer of the ITCCCA. Malinsky will join current North Central coaches Al Carius, Tom Roderick, and Frank Gramarosso as members of the Hall of Fame.
